ABOUT MARK
Mark Swedlund is a Senior Vice
President and Partner at Haggin Marketing, the powerhouse Mill Valley direct marketing agency,
where he heads the strategic planning group. Mark is a seasoned direct response marketing executive
with deep management and strategic experience. With more than 25 years in the direct marketing industry,
he has held executive positions in both the service and operating sides of the business. He has mentored
and inspired many colleagues over the course of his career.
Mark got his start in the catalog business with the Chicago-based firm Kestnbaum and Company, which pioneered
many of the database analysis techniques in use today. He then partnered with Jules Silbert in the consultancy
that launched Chadwick's of Boston and advised the American Girls Collection prior to its launch, among other
projects. During this time, he met Tom Foster, who convinced him to join Foster & Gallagher as Senior Vice
President in charge of that company's diversification efforts. While at this $400-million direct response
retailer, Mark led the effort to acquire and grow the Popcorn Factory, HearthSong, and Magic Cabin Dolls. He
served as president of the latter two titles. He also served briefly as the president of Real Goods Trading
Company prior to its sale to Gaiam.
Mark is an author as well as a frequent speaker and panelist at industry events. For the last four years he
has co-authored The Multi Channel Marketing Report with the DMA research department.
